Q: It was my understanding that these sensors are magnetic and didn’t need batteries.

A: They may be magnetic for attachment but have no knowledge as to the device running magnetically. This question or concern should probably be directed to Xfinity directly. We sell the battery replacements but product knowledge should be addressed to Xfinity.
