Description
Photon Freedom Micro Ultraviolet
Powerful Miniature Ultraviolet Light
These special-purpose Photon lights produce a powerful beam of ultraviolet light, which will activate fluorescent ink, strips, & fibers that are used as anti-counterfeiting measures in bank notes, credit cards, casino chips, passports, checks, securities, cryptographic papers, etc. These key-chain sized UV lights are also great for checking fluorescent hand stamps at clubs, or curing UV-sensitive glue. The UV Photon features the extended housing of the Covert Photon I to protect your eyes from direct exposure to the UV light.
Covert Nose
The beam has a fairly narrow focus and unlike a traditional blacklight, most of the light produced by the UV Photon is just outside the visible spectrum (370 nm). In full darkness it will cause objects to fluoresce at distances of 20 feet or more. In bright daylight the effectiveness is greatly reduced, but is still usable at about 6-12 inches.

Yup
Review by Tiny on 17 Jul 2014 review stating Yup
Love this little light. I bounce at a club and this thing has stood up to all of the challenges of the rigorous daily activity I endure. I have this light attached to my hat when I check ID's. It's survived a few fights and a lot of beer spilled on it. Thanks batteryjunction

The Freedom Package isn't the Platform for UV
Review by Tom C. on 23 Feb 2025 review stating The Freedom Package isn't the Platform for UV
On a positive note, this device does output 365nm, and so can be used (somewhat) for currency detection, charging phosphors, and detection, but the downside seems to be that the Freedom electronic control diminishes the raw output power to the LED. Compared to the Photon I UV model, the Freedom output was substantially less, even after a change of...Read MoreRead more about On a positive note, this device does
cells. Of course, this could be due to the specific LED, but I suspect there is a loss in output due to the circuitry. And, thinking about the use of a UV microlight, why would someone want the dimmable and other mode features of the Freedom. I bought both and another 395nm microlight for comparison, and found the more economical Photon I to work best for my purposes, providing a strong enough UV output. . . the Freedom output was too weak, and the 395nm device couldn't do the job.
