Great balance of high and low setting and the clip makes it the perfect pocket light that will go hands free if you have a ball cap on. Decent run time on a AA.

I liked the thought of a 1AA clickie, so when Olight came out with the i5t, I thought I would give it a try and bought two of them during their flash sale. chipped or scratched. I did not try to see if I could scratch off more with my fingernail to check the durability of the special finish. I am sure over time, the finish will show some wear and tear anyway. I just find it aggravating when the flashlight arrives that way. The dual position clip is sturdy and will leave marks on the body of the flashlight where the clip attaches to the body. Consequently, I do not plan on removing and reattaching the clip or spinning it around the body. The clip has a lanyard hole, but no lanyard is included. A generic Alkaline AA battery is included though. The clip and the knurling help give a good grip to the small flashlight. The clickie has a very nice rubbery and grippy feel to it. It takes a good amount of pressure and a firm press to fully click the switch. There is no lock-out feature and unscrewing the tailcap will not keep the flashlight from working. The tailcap takes about three and a quarter turns before it comes off completely and the flashlight will still work if the tailcap is screwed on only a quarter turn.

The beam is smooth and wide with a distinct, soft hotspot and useable spill-light. The tint was a little on the Cool White side on one flashlight and a little on the Neutral White side on the other. When going from Low to High, the brightness will ramp up to High quickly. It will not go from Low to High instantly like with most other flashlights. This feature did not bother me. I found using different AA batteries yielded different brightness levels on High. Brand name primary batteries gave better (brighter) results.

A runtime test with fresh Eneloops (1.52v) showed High (300 LU) lasted for about three minutes, then slowly and smoothly ramped down to about 150 LU over the next 25 minutes. Both were expected per the specs. The next step down was to the area of 30 LU. The brightness slowly got dimmer and dimmer and after about an hour and a half, the difference between High and Low was almost not noticeable. Both seemed to be around 15-20 LU. At three hours, both lights were at about 5 LU. I ended the test after five hours. Both lights were still in the neighborhood of 5 LU. I feel 5 LU is good enough for getting out of bed in the middle of the night while not having to turn on the lights, but even the Low level of 15 LU is not bright enough to walk the dog. High of 300 LU is better suited for that. I am sure longer runtimes could be obtained with new Duracell batteries which start off at about 1.62v.
