What is an IP Rating?
In a perfect world, every electronic device would be able to withstand sand, dust, and water - but let's face it, not all devices can. The Ingress Progress rating system is a classification system, that in a nutshell, provides you with the levels of protection you're receiving from solid objects and liquids. The standard aims to provide users more detailed information than vague marketing terms such as "waterproof." An IP rating can help you decide if your flashlight will be able to fully function in the environment you need it to. The first digit represents protection against ingress of solid objects (like dust), while the second digit represents protection against ingress of liquids; the higher the value, the greater the protection. This infographic will teach you the differences between each IP rating, and help you choose the light that fits your specific needs.
