The Nitecore titanium whistle is tiny but very loud. I keep it at work in my pocket just in case I need to make a very loud distracting noise. I also carry it on my backpack strap when hiking through the woods. Should come in handy with wildlife encounters and the next time I get lost.

elderly friend who was a Master Chief Boatswains Mate. He uses his Navy pipe to get our Sunday school class to stop socializing and settle down. But it turns out it doesn't work well for that , basically, if you blow hard it will go very loud, if you blow just a bit it won't make any noise. If you blow moderately it will be dang loud - way too loud to just get attention in a crowded room but like I said this was wrong expectation on my part.
