What we have here is the ProGear™ 2350 LED flashlight from Pelican. This light is a pocket sized flashlight, which produces a high performance output, all in a rugged aluminum package. Measuring in at only 4.23" long, you will always want to carry this pocket rocket on your person or in the car. The knurling on the body provides a secure grip, so you don't have to worry about dropping it. If you do happen to drop it in a puddle, the ProGear 2350 is IPX-8 rated and can be submerged for up to 30 minutes. There is also no excuse for you not to have this on you, as a removable pocket clip in also included. Great for camping, hiking, toolboxes, walking the dog, or just to keep in the car in case of emergency.

Nice simple single AA flashlight

I own a lot of flashlights. The reason for the Pelican 2350 for me was its simple UI (user interface), plus it utilizes a single AA battery. I use an Eneloop rechargeable in mine. t is rated at 180 lumens and side by side comparisons, they are both very similar in brightness. The Pelican has a tighter hotspot due to its larger head/reflector. You can say the Pelican is the thrower of the two. The flashlight is on the larger size of single AA lights in my opinion but I don't have a problem carrying it in my front right pocket. I liked this model when it only had 100 lumens and when this updated model with 178 lumens was released I picked up two. Read Less

r a 1xCR123 light with a CREE Q2 or a Q5 LED, the state of the art only a couple years ago.

This light is a fantastic outdoor (camping, hiking) torch. It has a brightly focused hotspot, allowing for amazing throw from a single AA cell. The beam is well balanced even given this, and the low setting is very useful for close-up tasks. The form of the light itself is fairly large for a 1xAA, being that it's over 4" in length and over 1" in diameter at the bezel. That said, it is really comfortable to hold and has knurling in the right place to provide a very secure grip.

Notably this light is rated at "100 lumens", which sounds meager compared to the lumen ratings from other manufacturers. DO NOT BE FOOLED, this is easily as bright as any of the AA lights which claim 130, 140, or even over 150 lumens. The difference is that Pelican measures the actual luminous flux produced from the torch, rather than listing the theoretical lumens the emitter will produce while being driven at a given current. ...I won't even get started on the importance of luminous intensity (candela) over total flux but be assured this little flashlight has it where it counts.

I had some minor issues with the switch on this light (admittedly after dropping it a few times). The only problem was that for a short time I couldn't get it to cycle through the other modes. It would still switch on with no reluctance, but it essentially became a single-mode light with only the high setting. Read Less

Excellent throw for the size

This light has a great throw for the size and battery (1 AA). Would make a good emergency light combined with a lithium AA battery. The only con is that the spring tension on the battery is strong and tends to scratch the battery - no biggie on disposable batteries, but a bit of an issue with NiMH ones.
