First Alert smoke alarms are one of the most popular brands on the market today. These smoke detectors are statistically proven to save lives, though a staggering number of users fail to utilize them appropriately. 9V Replacement Batteries

The first few alarms in our list are those that use 9V batteries. The First Alert CO400 is actually a battery-powered carbon monoxide alarm that utilizes one 9V alkaline cell. The benefit of battery-powered devices is that they work even when the power goes out. This of course is only the case if you are consistently replacing your used batteries. According to First Alert, this carbon monoxide alarm works best when it is powered by Duracell MN1604, Energizer 522, or Ultralife U9VL-JP 9V batteries. All three of these brands and models are good and are reliable; however, we suggest utilizing the lithium Ultralife battery for best results. While more expensive, lithium batteries typically last longer, which is good for those who may be more relaxed when it comes to replacing used First Alert batteries. Not only do we offer all three brands of batteries, but we also offer them in different packaging. According to First Alert, it is recommended to place CO alarms throughout a home. A single-level home, for example should have at least one carbon monoxide alarm near each sleeping area. If you are buying for a hotel or for rental properties, our bulk batteries option may be the best choice for you.

The First Alert SA303CN3 is a 9V battery-operated smoke alarm that is sold with the initial battery included; however, just like with CO alarms, the non-rechargeable cell will need to be replaced as soon as the device starts chirping or every six months. Again, First Alert recommends the same Duracell, Energizer, and Ultralife models to keep this smoke alarm powered and ready to go. The First Alert 9120B on the other hand is hard-wired smoke detector that features a battery backup system. The way this unit works is that if your home's electrical system fails, the backup battery will kick on in order to maintain surveillance at all times. The Ultralife lithium 9V is our go-to choice for this unit because of the extended downtime that the battery will experience. More often than not, the battery will not be in use; however, it will still be connected and therefore will slowly be losing its power. Lithium batteries have been proven to last longer than alkaline and are therefore more reliable when it comes to powering these life-saving utilities.

AA Batteries for your First Alert Devices

First Alert also offers a selection of battery-powered alarms that run on AA batteries. The SA320CN smoke alarm, for example, offers dual photoelectric and ionization smoke sensing features, which are powered by two AA cells. The First Alert SA511CN2-3ST wireless smoke alarm is also powered by two AAs and offers a unique voice notification feature. This particular device is even capable of wirelessly communicating with up to 18 other detectors throughout a building. This means that if there is a fire in the kitchen, the alarms in the bedrooms will be notified. While batteries are included with your initial purchase, ultimately the non-rechargeable cells will need to be replaced. For best results, we recommend utilizing Energizer's E91 batteries, which is available in a variety of packaging options to suit any need.
